Here's the upstream end of 'The Steps' pool on Newtyle. Several huge boulders that sit in the deep channel here are what gives this pool it's name and reputation. It's a great taking area in high or low water and just downstream of a right hand bend in the river which provides sheltered water for salmon even in the highest of floods. The wading here is a delight in medium to low water heights.
