Willie 'The Ghillie' Laird

Here's the man responsible for my involvement in the salmon fishing world. For those who remember him he was an absolute 'topper' of a man and still greatly missed by many. This 'lucky charm' rod label ensures contact with our 'salmon god' as I am convinced Willie will be one of his closest pals. If I told you how this picture came to be a lucky charm on my Monteith Spey rods you wouldn't believe me !

Here's Izzy Proby with the result of her first morning's salmon fishing. Brilliant effort Izzy who also managed to completely master the double Spey cast too.

This is one of the most deadly salmon fly patterns of them all. Personally I found the gold bodied versions absolutely brilliant in the Spring.
