Just to say many thanks to all the fishers who helped to release salmon this year on Newtyle. Of the 135 fish landed throughout the season 120 were returned which is approx an 89% release rate. On the Spring fish side of it there were 58 springers caught and 55 of these were released which is approx a 95% return rate. Great stuff and we hope to see our many anglers back for some more 'Springer Action' in the new year !!! If you go through the archives of this blog from earlier this season you will get enough video footage and photographs to keep your appetite good for next year.

Here's Ian Calcott with his 1st of 2 fish landed (by himself) on Newtyle today. Another fish of 7 lbs was landed by John Laurie in 'The Boil' this morning. All fish caught on Newtyle today were released as usual back to the Tay.

We were very fortunate today to have one of the most famous & legendry Tay ghillies Mr Colin Leslie (Cargill Ghillie 50 years) on Newtyle today. Colin has landed more salmon over 40 pounds than any other Scottish fisherman along with an estimated 40,000 salmon during his lifetime on the Tay. Clearly today the salmon knew Colin was coming to Newtyle hence the fish caught on our beat today.
