Here's my great pals Charlie & Martin who are the new ghillie force on the superb Newtyle Beat. Martin was the former TDSFB Hatchery manager and personally fathered 1.8 million juvenile salmon 5 years ago. This clearly explains why he has hit such superb form recently in his new role as Head Ghillie on the beat !!! I look forward to working closely with Martin on Newtyle over the forthcoming seasons. Here's my great friends Ken Reid (Fisheries Development Officer for the Dee District Salmon Fisheries Board and Fishdee manager) and Chris Webster (the Director of the current and popular 'Turus a Bhradain' TV series) up on the the River Dee this morning. These professionals are the future big promoters of the industry here in Scotland and thankfully very talented at their respective individual roles in taking our industry to the next level.

This is the best way to really see how a line works in the water. On this particular test I had on the 15ft 3 ips tip and hooked this late run Autumn fish in approx 6 ft of water in a moderate flow rate. Fiddling around with lines has become an obsession with me over the last 6 years and although products are slow to appear they are all subjected to extensive in river tests like this well before any production run is considered.
