January Report

Ghillie's Report For January.

The season opened on the 15th january and we were greeted by wet weather. With more than 5ft on the gauge we got under way. The 1st fish of the season was landed on the fly by Mr Robert Galbraith, a baggot around the 10lb mark. The first few days of the season saw a rise in the water, up to 7ft. There was plenty of baggots and rawners splashing around the beat.
The 1st springer from the beat was landed on the 23rd by myself from the Cotter on a harled tomic, this was a magnificent fish weighing around the 12lb mark. With the water dropping to 2ft 7" our chances were getting better. On the 26th we lost 2 definet springers at the boat. The disappointment of these 2 springers been lost didnt last to long as on the 27th Mr John Watt making his first trip to the Tay landed a beauty of 16lbs from Jock's Bank on a harled tomic. Very well done John on your 1st january springer. As the week progressed heights were good and a few fish were shown. On the 30th Bob Mathieson landed a 8lber from the Ferry Pool on a harled tomic from my 2nd boat. All 3 springers were returned.
Overall im very pleased with the start to the season, hopefully the spring run will continue to build as the weeks pass and a lot more action is around the corners.

Tight Lines
