A very well mended salmon kelt like this one caught today can sometimes be mistaken for a clean run Spring salmon by the inexperienced. These fish although out of condition have my utmost respect as they have ran the gauntlet and evaded capture from many different predators to successfully reproduce on their spawning grounds. Hats off to these fellows.

Here a pool that rarely get fished at all on the Lower Kinnaird beat. Another gem of a pool and salmon sanctuary for most of the season. What a glorious day it was today and Spring is truly here.

What a glorious day it was today and this is a truly exciting time of the year with warmth slowing starting to come into the equation. Great to be giving the sunglasses a polish !!Things always start to happen after mid March on the Tay each season and days like this will only encourage fish to start moving into the river.

Here's a lovely shot of the Sparrowmuir Pool on the Burnbane Beat late this afternoon. This is the pool Georgina Ballantyne landed her 64lbs British record salmon back in 1922.
